The Atlantic Lives Within
Once the edge of the known world, the Atlantic dared humanity to explore beyond familiar shores. It sparked an Age of Discovery, dissolving boundaries and connecting Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Across its waves, cultures met, ideas flowed, and countless souls pursued freedom.
A Milestone for CIGA design in Watchmaking
In 2021, the CIGA design Blue Planet stood out among 208 global watch entries competing for 14 prestigious awards. It earned a spot on the stage of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG)—the “Oscars of Watchmaking”— alongside renowned brands such as Patek Philippe and Piaget.
Revolutionizing traditional movement gear ratios, this innovative mechanism features a stationary hour dial paired with a dynamic minute dial on the same plane. In this unique configuration, the hour hand moves through a 30° arc while the minute hand completes a 390° rotation, allowing time to be indicated from a single reference point.
CNC technology recreates the vast contours of the Atlantic. From the rugged Rocky Mountains to the towering Andes, the deep Gulf of Mexico to the sun-drenched Mediterranean, each engraving reflects the distinct identity of its region. The elegantly designed dial, with oceanic blue tones and fine details, highlights unparalleled artistry and attention to detail.
The intricate dial details crisp oceans, sprawling mountains, and pristine land, crafted with CNC engraving and multi-layer gilding, reproduces the Earth in the same continent-and-ocean ratio and depicts the real altitude of the terrain. Each Earth dial undergoes four intricate processes over 68 hours, delivering a breathtaking micro-artistic visual experience.
