The House of Science in collaboration with the 6×6 Centre for Photography, for the second consecutive year, is organising a practical astrophotography workshop focusing on the milky way. Our goal is for all participants to have their own printed photo by the end of the series.
Workshop Programme
The workshop is comprised of three sessions and it will span approximately 10 hours.
Friday 29/07/2022 – Theory and Background:
Theory and background: Photography basics, focusing in the dark, composition, lighting, exposure, software. This session will take place at the House of Science, and will have a duration of 3 hours. The exact time we’ll be determined according to the needs of the participants.
Saturday 30/07/2022, 20:00 – 00:00 – Photoshoot:
For this session we will go to a dark sky location. Photo shooting, equipment demonstration (star trackers, different wide-angle lenses) and observation of different celestial objects through our telescopes (planets and more).
Wednesday 01/08/2022 – Digital Editing:
Post processing in Photoshop and Lightroom. Moreover, we’ll have an introduction to advanced techniques such as image stacking. This session will take place at the House of Science, and will have a duration of 3 hours. The exact time we’ll be determined according to the needs of the participants.

Participation Cost: €160 (inc. VAT and one 40x60cm print)
What you will need: A camera with manual mode (DSLR, Mirrorless etc), a tripod.
Photo printing
The price of the workshop also includes one 40cm x 60cm printed photo. Printing will take place at the 6×6 Centre for Photography.
