Total Lunar Eclipse – 7 September 2025

The House of Science invites you to a unique evening dedicated to the rare total lunar eclipse, which will be fully visible from Cyprus for the first time since 2018.

During the phenomenon, the Moon will remain in the Earth’s shadow for over an hour, offering the stunning sight of the so-called “blood moon”. At the same time, through talks and activities, the scientific importance of a total lunar eclipse and the beauty of astronomy will be highlighted.

The event will take place at the semi-circular pier of Limassol Molos, opposite Café Nero. It will begin at 19:00 with the moonrise. The partial eclipse begins at 19:27, while the total eclipse will last from 20:30 until 21:52.

Telescopes will be available on site for the public, giving visitors the opportunity to observe the Moon up close, as well as the planet Saturn with its spectacular rings. In addition, attendees will have the chance to test their knowledge through a fun quiz game and learn more about the Moon through educational material and activities.

The program will feature talks by distinguished scientists and researchers:

  • Prof. Dr. Haris Charalambous – Frederick University: Space Weather
  • Dr. Haris Varnava – European University Cyprus: My Research on Galaxies
  • Dr. Tatiana Pavlidou – American University of Beirut: My Research on Star Clusters
  • Marios Photiou – Avanti Communications: The Night Sky in the Satellite Era
  • Vasilis Vasileiou – House of Science: Explaining the Phenomenon of the Lunar Eclipse
  • George Keliris – House of Science: The Paradoxes of Eclipses

The evening’s atmosphere will be complemented by relaxed, space-themed music.

Join us for an unforgettable night, where science, knowledge, music, and the night sky come together in an experience that will stay with you forever.

You are welcome to bring your own telescopes!

We warmly thank our sponsors, the Sophic platform by Athlos Capital, and KG AuditVentures Ltd, as well as the Night Sky Explorers Club for their participation.
