Join us for an unforgettable experience under the magical, starry sky of Troodos!
Observation through telescopes, stargazing and engaging presentations (in Greek) await you as we discover the beauty and secrets of the universe.
Even though the presentations will be in Greek, we will be able to offer tailored help and advice in English too.
📍Location: Troodos Astropark (Amiandos) – (www.hos.cy/astropark)
🗓️Date: 28/06/2025
📌Presentation Schedule (in Greek)
🕖19:00: Telescopes – An introduction to different types of telescopes and the basic principles of how they work. Practical tips for proper use and equipment selection for both beginners and experienced users.
🕢19:30: Observing the moon – We help you align your telescopes and focus on our natural satellite, learning how to observe lunar features clearly and effectively.
🕗20:00: Light Pollution: The Invisible Enemy of the Sky – A short presentation on what light pollution is, what causes it, and its impact—along with realistic solutions to help preserve our dark skies
🕣20:30: Celestial Targets – A detailed overview of the celestial objects we will observe through our telescopes: planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. What they are, how to find them, and why they’re worth observing.
🕘21:00: The constellations – Let the night sky be your guide! Learn to identify major constellations and their brightest stars, along with the myths and stories hidden within them.
🌌Stargazing
At 21:30, as darkness settles, we will begin our main stargazing session. In addition to our own telescopes (which will be available for all participants), anyone who owns a telescope is welcome to bring it along.
If you do plan to bring your own equipment, please make sure to arrive before the event starts (19:00) so that we can help you with setup if needed.
Even if you don’t bring a telescope, we kindly ask that you arrive before 20:00—not only to attend the exciting talks, but also to avoid disrupting observers whose eyes will already be adapted to the dark. Car headlights can be especially disturbing in these conditions.
🔭Useful Tips
